This month's Albuquerque Linux User Group hangout will be held virtually on the first Tuesday of this month. April 5 2022, at 6:00 pm. NMGLUGers, We are scheduled to meet tonight, 5:30p, MDT at the video link https://meet.jit.si/nmglug as we are still not set on an in person meeting place. Art B. has mentioned LaTeX for handling data sets and mathematics, etc. So maybe we will have time for that. I have some anecdotes on hardware (an HP All in One) and fresh installation vs. upgrade. My upgrade from Xubuntu 21.10 to 22.04 by my own route was not successful. I am now in a trial of LinuxMint 20.3. Join us and let us know what you are doing. Thank you, Ted P.

mint 20 shutting down

I have a new, clean, Mint 20 install which is shutting down after long periods of non-use... like 6-10 hours. I have tried many things to disable this. I have peeked at logs, but nothing is jumping out at me. How can I find out why the machine is shutting down? Sure, a wake-on-lan/ssh would be fine for this machine, but I'll worry about that after I can figure out how to keep it up. I had it running 24/7, months at a time under Mint 18. aTdHvAaNnKcSe, aaron

Dear nmglug, We will be giving our summer interns a $400 stipend to get a computer. Last year y'all sent me to the Asus VivoBook Ryzen 3 at this link: https://www.walmart.com/ip/ASUS-VivoBook-F412-14-FHD-AMD-Ryzen-3-3250U-AMD-… and it worked out wonderfully for our students. With a year passing, does anyone know if there's another contender in the < $400 space now?
