NMGLUGers, We have a meeting tonight at 5:30pm, MDT, still virtual as per
nmglug.org/meetings/ where the address of the meeting can be found. I
managed to login to jitsi on a 32 bit machine, so I may try to use it
tonight, though the video quality may or may not be passable. No camera,
but we have be limiting the camera use for attendees to improve the audio
for those with poor connection.
We could talk about if and where to meet in person to promoted Free
Software, but the cafe landscape has changed over the years and I certainly
don't have a good suggestion.
See you tonight if you are able. Thank you, Ted P
Hi NMGLUG folks,
I've been wanting to have more security and privacy on my phone for a while.
I guess I'm not alone.
I heard about LineageOS a while back.
More recently, I heard that CalyxOS is more feasible to get to work. I
recently bought a Google Pixel 4a with the idea that I might one day put
CalyxOS on it, and that it will work great.
Now, I heard about political sides wanting to protect us from big tech
talking about FreedomOS.
Does anyone have tech insight into the security of these and feasibility to
use on a phone?
Thanks to all of you,
LeRoy

Fellow NMGLUGers,
The monthly Albuquerque Linux User Group (virtual) meetup will be
today, July 6th 2021, at 6:00 pm.
Here is the link you can use to join the virtual meetup:
https://live.abqlug.com/JulyMeetup
If you're going to use a desktop/laptop, all you should need is a
modern web browser to join the online meeting.
If you are going to use a smartphone, you will want to install the
Jitsi-meet app, and then set the Jitsi-meet server to live.abqlug.com.
If you would like more information on how to attend the meetup, please
visit:
https://www.abqlug.com/how-to-attend/
You can test your setup here:
https://test.webrtc.org/
If you're having issues using a microphone or camera, you might have to
make sure that WebRTC is enabled in your browser if you have "locked
down" your browser. If WebRTC is working, you should be able to complete
a Microphone and Camera test with the link above.
The meetup will likely end around 8pm or before.
