another programming course this weekend -- laptops? help with installfest?

Dear nmglugers, This weekend I will again teach my "serious programming for kids" course. 10am Saturday at Warehouse 21. Info at https://sites.google.com/site/santafecoding/ My stash of laptops which I loan to kids from needy families is dwindling -- some are just too old for current distros, others are having hardware failures -- might anyone be getting rid of old laptops? Anything with 1gig RAM will work. Also: at this time it looks like a small group (due to likely dropout of someone who said she would bring several students), so I might not need help with the installfest at 10am Saturday. But if I should get a final surge in participants, might anyone be available at 10am Saturday for an hour or so? To help shepherd kids through installing a GNU/Linux distro on the random hardware they bring in. I'm planning on coming by nmglug this evening for a bit; see you then!

In your own PHP code, you use something like file_get_contents to retrieve your weather sticker content. Then you display it locally instead of via HTTP over the network. This way your web server retrieves the weather sticker via insecure HTTP, but everything between the server and the actual client looking at your web page is still encrypted. For example, you could make a php file on your own server called ‘weatherimage.php’ and its code would be something like: $remoteImage = "http://www.example.com/gifs/logo.gif"; $imginfo = getimagesize($remoteImage); header ("Content-type: $imginfo['mime']"); readfile($remoteImage); And then just <img src=“/weatherimage.php”> in your HTML. Let's Encrypt

I have been working on moving my web sites to being served only over a secure encrypted connection. It has been much easier than I expected. One little twist is that I have weather stickers (images) on my home page that come from http://weathersticker.wunderground.com and consequently that causes a warning that "parts of the page are not secure". I could just delete the weather stickers but I kind of like having the weather on my home page. I could install a weather station and connect it to my network and HVAC system and write a bunch of software to maximize my comfort. I could get up from my computer and stick my head out the window to see what the weather is like. And my last option is to ask for help. Anyone know of a good way to show current weather on a https site?
