Hello SDC members, We will be having our fourth SDC Beekeepers meeting of the 2025 season this month on Thursday, June 26, starting at 6:30 PM. This month’s agenda: • The recent honey bee transport accident in Washington Sate • A serious africanized bee attack in Albuquerque last week • How our colonies change after the summer solstice • Are your colonies in a dearth or in a nectar flow? • We will try to spend a portion of the time in smaller discussion groups, one for top bar beekeepers and one for Langstroth beekeepers • Questions and answers of course In addition, once again his month,we will be offering an early session from 6:00-6:30, dedicated to new beekeepers who can benefit from more basic information about hive inspections and such. Everyone can choose to come at either 6:00 or at 6:30. Our monthly meetings are held at St John’s Methodist Church located at 1200 Old Pecos Trail…..in the Choir Room. We will attempt to add folks who cannot join in person via Zoom, however the best way to participate is to join us in person. Medium salsa bees

I just did a split this morning. Looking for an experienced beekeeper that can give them and doesn’t mind a little spice in their bees. I have no more room. These are in a top bar nuc right now. Hello SDC members, We will be having our third SDC Beekeepers meeting of the 2025 season this month on Thursday, May 22, starting at 6:30 PM. This month’s agenda: • One of our members, Felly Montelya, will share about her recent trip to work bees in Texas • Feeding our bees, if necessary, during the time of dearth. • Members who have swarm stories or split stories to share would be great! • We will once again, spend a portion of the time in smaller discussion groups, one for top bar beekeepers and one for Langstroth beekeepers • Questions and answers of course There will be free smoker fuel available to all attendees. Swarming Bees - Urgent

Hi, First-year beekeeper here, and just a few hours ago I found my hive swarming, and they’ve settled in a nearby tree. From what I’ve read, I can attempt to capture this swarm in a nuc box, leave them overnight, and introduce them into a new broodbox and keep them. I’m not 100% sure though, and don’t know where to get a broodbox in such short notice. Any advice/knowledge where to pick one up, and how long I have to do this? Thank you
