Hello SDC Beekeepers, We are excited to announce our first in-person meeting in over two years! The meeting will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church, located at 107 W Barcelona Rd, here in Santa Fe, starting at 6:30 PM this tonight Tuesday, May 17th. Please join us as Kate will be sharing spring hive management tips and answering any questions you may have about your hives. We also enjoy when members share their 2022 beekeeping experiences, especially any swarm capture stories and photos/videos. We can also talk about queen replacement and the possibility of ordering mated queens as a group in order to save on shipping costs, which could drive the cost from $60 per queen to $30 per queen In addition to the in-person element of the meeting, we will also have a Zoom element for those unable to attend in person. My name is Heather and my husband and I just bought land in Tres Piedras. We’re excited to be a part of the community and are diving into beekeeping right off the get go! We ordered two packages from Zia Queen Bees that we’ll be picking up in two weeks. We moved from western Washington state where we kept bees for 4 years. Quite a different climate there so we’re eager to learn about beekeeping here in northern New Mexico. We have top bar hives and plan to build a nice protected apiary near some of the pinion and juniper trees on our property. Any advice or guidance as we get started would be greatly appreciated. Strong hive for sale

I have a very strong 10 frame Langstroth hive I want to sell. It overwintered just fine, Checked on it yesterday again. One deep with lots of brood, another deep that was at the bottom that was mostly empty of the winter stores it had, a medium 6 5/8” super with brood and honey. Screened bottom board. Queen is one year old. I’ve had this hive going for about 6 or 7 years. I’m trying to just work with top bars and starting with letting this one go first. Asking $450 I also have a number of 8 frame deeps and supers for $15 and empty 10 frame boxes for $18. Misc covers, bottoms for very cheap. Looking for a frame of open brood

I am hoping to find someone who can help me to obtain a frame with an open brood to be placed in a trap out hive to lure out the queen. I set up a trap out hive this past Friday to the extended entrance that the bees already successfully are using. But the family that has these bees on a property has two small kids with a newborn and dogs. So to speed up the who moving part and trapping out, I would like to ask all of you, beekeepers, to help me with this! I appreciate any help with it in advance! Seeking a temporary home for 2 hives

Good morning, All! I hope that your hives are overwintering well and that we might all have healthy, buzzing hives in a month or so. I live in Santa Fe and I am moving to a new house. With the way the move has come together, I have a gap of about a month where I do not have a home for my hives. I thought I had this base covered, but not all plans work out. Please contact me if you have space to accommodate two Langstroth hives from 2/23 through approximately the end of March. An ideal arrangement would have space for a 5x8 garden trailer with the hives on board, but a home for the hives themselves is my first priority. These are Saskatraz bees and I have seen activity on the recent warmer days, so I am hopeful that all is well inside. Thanks in advance for your consideration of this request. Happy beekeeping!
