Hi Everyone, I recently moved here, and I have been in search of local LUG in Albuquerque. Basic Google searching shows a now retired Ubuntu Group, the current Santa Fe LUG, and the one in Las Cruses. But I don't see an active LUG for the Albuquerque area. Unless I am just dumb, and haven't come across it yet. Is there interest to start another one? Take the strawpoll, for easy counting. https://www.strawpoll.me/16369274 Please reply directly to me ( alucard@swcp.com ) if you don't want to reply to the whole mailing list. Thanks Fam -- Jared

I'm not aware of one, except perhaps the group that meets monthly at Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center (New Mexico Computer Society, Linux branch). The subject has come up on this list before. It would be nice to have something close to UNM to bring in students. There's also likely a sizable audience of web types around the startup part of town (ABQid, FatPipe, etc.). -- Anthony J. Bentley
Hi Anthony, and everyone else. Do we know if anyone has a connection to UNM? At least to the extent where we might be able to reserve a room for free? I have no budget for this sort of thing. But I figure UNM might be willing to donate a room, maybe if we get lucky, weekly or monthly. There are other co-working spaces that might lend us a room. But most places, I would imagine, would want to charge us. I don't think a bar/restaurant would be ideal, but I am open to ideas. I also forgot to mention that if you would have a preferred date/time, please let me know. In fact here is another strawpoll, for ease. https://www.strawpoll.me/16369401 Thanks Fam -- Jared On 08/30/2018 06:28 PM, Anthony J. Bentley wrote:

libraries have reservable community rooms as do co-ops and stores like Whole Foods. Maybe a corner of Flying Star as long as one buys a sweet and a drink. Lots of options I believe but that's here in Santa Fe Brian On 08/30/2018 06:50 PM, Alucard wrote:

I could host meetings at the local member-run makerspace, Quelab. 7th and Haines, just north of downtown, near the big-I. We just need somebody to lead the parade. (I can arrange the space, but would not be up to leading the group) aaron On 08/30/2018 06:28 PM, Anthony J. Bentley wrote:

Thanks for the response Aaron. I would like to try this at QueLab first. Everyone: Please take the polls so I can get an idea as to what day would work the best. I think once a month is probably ideal, for now... Poll for what day: https://www.strawpoll.me/16369401 Poll for frequency: https://www.strawpoll.me/16369274 Thanks.
