looking for Dell laptop power supply
Dear nmglugers, Does anyone have an old broken Dell laptop and they kept the power supply? I have a friend with an old Inspiron 6400 whose power supply seems to be broken. The spec on the power supply is: 90W AC Adapter input 100-240V output 19.5V, 4.62A I'm not quite sure how to specify the thickness/mode of the jack that goes into the actual computer - anyone have a line on that? Anyone have something that matches this?
Mark, Two options come to mind: Rosewill and other brands of multiple tip power supplies. these were running about $30 when I last bought one; the re-cyclers at Cybernetwork keep old power supplies in boxes by output voltage. It is a nuisance to have to dig through the box, they seem to enjoy making one do this, but sometimes the one you want is there. After that you can bargain for the item. I have no 'spares' in the house. Ted P.

I have a charger from a Sony laptop. It is 90W 19.5V 4.7 Amp, the connector is 6mm diameter, center pin +. That would work. If the connector matches, you are good to go. If not you could use the connector off the old power supply. Mars -- ============================================================= J. Greetings I have about 8 Dell PA-12 Chargers/Power Supplies. Looks like these would work. The Internets says the 6400 used a PA-10 chargers. Fewer amps. 3.34. Let me know if you are interested in any of these chargers. I’m in Socorro but I am at The Lake most every weekend. <: Peace
