ubuntu thunderbird mail accounts and settings disappear after reboot.
Persons of Glug; Do any glug readers understand and who are willing to share a solution to the disappearing accounts and settings, thunderbird email, after reboot? best,a
Did you just reboot or reinstall? all the account, etc. info should be in your ~/.mozilla folder somewhere. Brian On 06/17/2015 09:06 AM, a wrote:

So after the reinstall your new thunderbird had all your accounts, etc. as you had set them up? If they were there and a reboot made them disappear maybe this would help http://kb.mozillazine.org/Recovering_a_profile_that_suddenly_disappeared Good luck On 06/17/2015 10:56 AM, a wrote:

the laptop does have have a profile in .thunderbird, which matches Ted P command line to content in .thunderbird. The desktop which is the pertinent subject does not have a .thunderbird. I also loaded a few addons as well they to have disappeared. a On 06/17/2015 11:08 AM, BrianO'Keefe wrote:

Hi a! Hope all is well! I'm sorry your having so much trouble. These threads have been painful to watch. Do you think you would be able to come to a meeting sometime? You could give us a heads up with a little list of things you need done and we would help you in person. If you can't make it to the glug because of the time. I would be happy to meet you at my office during the day. This way you could drive home the same day, during daylight. Let us know! J
a., I took another look at the Thunderbird page and there is a way to see if you are using the profile that has been established. I also noted the loss of profile address happens occasionally. Interesting that kind of error. So I took a look at my files and saw that I could check for the profile address. To check Thunderbird profilefrom command line: cd .thunderbird/ ls -a . .. Crash Reports k33p8gn6.default profiles.ini cat profiles.ini [General] StartWithLastProfile=1 [Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=k33p8gn6.default The tabbed over lines are the output. Note the Path should reference the same name as is listed in ./thunderbird/ directory. If this is correct you may have to do all the work of re-inputting your details, but your files as on the page Brian referenced. Good luck. Ted P
Ted: slowly working through the suggestions you guys have sent.the terminal and .thunderbird paths match. .mozilla and .thunderbird to not appear in home folder until I click on mail.that is as far as I have gotten.seems it should work sinch they match,I guess I am missing the obvious? a Terminal: uest-2I0FoS@desktop:~$ cd .thunderbird/ guest-2I0FoS@desktop:~/.thunderbird$ cat profiles.ini [General] StartWithLastProfile=1 [Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=j7hf0xil.default .thunderbird/: /tmp/guest-2I0FoS/.thunderbird/j7hf0xil.default t On 06/17/2015 12:05 PM, Ted Pomeroy wrote:

Well there you go, there's a clue... your fully qualified path is in /tmp - a memory filesystem.Upon rebooting, /tmp is clean again. If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door. "I can" is a way of life. More and Bigger is not always Better. The road to success is always uphill. Life isn't about finding yourself, it's about creating yourself. a., Interesting. I have a feeling there is some little "oh yeah, there's that" piece missing from this story. I see a hint with the second address: the /tmp/ directory is a temporary directory - might get erased or ignored on your reboot. Does the ~/.thundrbird/ directory have the files listed as I sent in the earlier e-mail? Thank you, Ted P.
Ted; referenced your earlier email not certain which files? Anyway, another piece of the puzzle.I hadbeen logging in via classic view this morning I log in current view the email setting were intact.I then switched to classic view the setting disappeared then returned to current view settings also disappeared I reset logged out and then in the settings remained intact.looks like the gnome classic view may have a bug? Thanks all for your interest and comments. The addons in classic view also disappear upon reboot. I get a popup which indicates there is a system problem do I wish to report. best to all,a On 06/18/2015 08:46 PM, Ted Pomeroy wrote:

I use Gnome and not classic or ubuntu as they seem buggy. Maybe Gnome will work for you too. Again, not Gnome Classic though, just Gnome. Brian On 06/19/2015 09:40 AM, a wrote:

I'm not sure if this has been pointed out or not and I just missed it but it looks to me like you are using a temporary guest account whose files get wiped each time you log out and log back in. If that's the case, you'll need to create a real user account and use that instead. It looks like your user name is guest-2I0FoS in the config file you sent above. The next time you log in, your user name will likely be something different. What is the output of this command issued in a terminal: $ whoami Then reboot and log back in and try it again: $ whoami Best regards, Gary
Gary; Thanks for clarification, was not aware of distinction, have been using the alternate view since ubuntu switched to its current graphics view. On 06/20/2015 10:26 AM, Gary Sandine wrote:
