OK yes it's just me.  Problem with Xfinity page was a product of my paranoid stance.  Jared just explained to me how to start with a clean Firefox profile and the links now work.  Nice to get an objective outside opinion.  For that I am always grateful to nmglug and abqlug.  Interactions with real people always beat Google, hands down.
