I have had Chase credit cards for a really long time. There has been a recent change to their web site that blocks me from accessing my accounts using my laptop running Debian and Mozilla Firefox web browser. I called them and they told me that I have to use either Windows 7 or higher or Mac OS 10.10 or higher. I have no desire to downgrade to an inferior operating system. It looks like Mordac the Preventer of Information Services got a job at Chase. Finally I figured out that I can get access though this login page https://chaseonline.chase.com/Logon.aspx instead of chase.com. But still I am seriously thinking I should change credit card companies. Anyone have any recommendations of companies for a business credit card that are not anti Gnu/Linux? I am surprised they do that. I have not ran into any site that blocks linux in a long time. We have two business cards we use. Our primary one is Costco Anywhere Business Visa from Citi and we also have a Bank of America Platinum Visa business card. Both have decent rewards and you can login from your Debian laptop. Hi Mars, What version of Firefox are you using? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/find-what-version-firefox-you-are-using I was able to login to my chase account. I was able to look at my accounts, look at old invoices, and clicked on like 5 links. All worked. I'm using version 64.0+build3-0ubuntu0.18.04. of Firefox on KDE Neon 18.04. Was also able to access my chase account from Chromium. Version 71.0.3578.80 (Official Build) snap. Debian might have an older Firefox in it's repo. If snap/flatpak are in your current repo, I would: sudo snap install firefox -- Jared On 12/18/18 12:50 PM, J. Marsden DeLapp wrote:

60.4.0esr from Debian stable. I was running testing about a month ago and that version of worked but it would load a mobile web site instead of the regular web site. I just tested it on another computer running Debian testing. That computer is also running Firefox 60.4.0esr and I can access the chase web site. It appears to be the same version as in stable. That is weird. Mars -- ============================================================= J. Marsden DeLapp, PE President DeLapp & Associates, Inc. dba DeLapp Engineering. Hi Mars, Have you tried to use chase.com in a New Private Window (on the pc that isn't working with chase.com)? If so, have you tried to create a test profile? In terminal: firefox -p Click "Create Profile..." Click "Next" Name it test (or whatever you want) Click "Finish" Unselect "Use the selected profile without asking at startup" option. Then click, "Start Firefox" (There might be a command that will do all this. This is just how I do it.) If New Private Window works, then you will want to clear all site data. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache If the test profile worked. Then you will want to migrate from one profile, to the new profile. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data Let us know what you find. -- Jared On 12/18/18 3:29 PM, J. A new private window works but it loads a mobile version of the web site. It also says, "We'll be updating the Chase and JPMorgan mobile web experience in December and will no longer support this version. Please update to the latest web browser and go to Chase.com or JPMorgan.com, or download the mobile app" I tried deleting all cookies associated with chase.com and now I can get to the mobile version without a private window. And then I browsed to the rewards part of the web site and went back to accounts and it switched to a regular (non mobile) web site. I did not know about having multiple firefox profiles with the same user. I will have to check the out someday. In the mean time I got the chase web site working for now. All this discussion about firefox does not change the fact that when I told Chase I was running Gnu/Linux they said I had to switch to Windows or Mac OS. If Chase ever calls me to help them with an electrical problem in one of their facilities (like the breaker feeding the coffee pot is tripping), I think my response may be that they need to move to a new building. We can prep the new building with a proprietary breaker that is only serviceable by us. All we need to do is add a small software control and it falls under the DMCA so they can't legally service it. Lock them in to an expensive contract and .. Oh, this is depressing.

Proprietary breaker with software control - that sounds like you are discribing Digi-trip breakers. https://www.eaton.com/Eaton/ProductsServices/Electrical/ProductsandServices/... Hi Mars, This add-on might be of interest to you. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/user-agent-switcher-revived/ TBH I like the older version more, but it seems functional. https://www.privacytools.io/ might also be of interest. There are ways of dealing with "OS locked" websites. -- Jared On 12/18/18 5:36 PM, J. Marsden DeLapp wrote:

That is stupid but not unexpected. I encourage all to drop Chase in any event as it is the dark side big time. I switched a couple years back to a card from TCM Bank and it's called Green America. It reinvests into the local community. It has no problem with my Ubuntu 18.04 Dropping Chase, Wells Fargo, et al is a great way to make a social statement and using local or green banks supports social change that is well needed. I think dropping Banks and going with a Credit Union would be a better choice. I am looking into getting a credit card through Nusenda Credit Union. SECU is our Credit Union. Very nice. They don't, however, issue a card that works for many needs as it is still just a small, local deal. Don't know about Nusenda and I certainly don't want to discourage anyone from them but there was some flap about them a little while ago. Del Norte is supposed to be superb too. Possibly helpful to some, suggest as broadly informative: NoScript Security Suite add-on for Firefox Duck Duck Go "credit unions and small business" publicbankinginstitute.org On 12/18/18 12:50 PM, J. Marsden DeLapp wrote:
