A., you have to be Root. My way in to Synaptic is in 2 steps: 1) su - ; enter, give root password. 2) as Root run 'synaptic'. Terminal stays open but a new window opens for the graphical Synaptic. Let me know if this works, Ted P. On Fri, Jun 7, 2019, 12:30 PM a <a@kaluta.us> wrote:

Hi a, Sometimes you get good info about why a program crashes when you open it from the terminal. pkexec synaptic Give us the output if you see errors. To install synaptic: sudo apt install synaptic I didn't understand the issue under the "ALTERNATELY" section. Have you tried to create a test profile? thunderbird -p I'm glad you had fun at the Santa Fe meetup! Regards, Jared On 6/7/19 12:29 PM, a wrote:

NMGLugers & a & Jared, this is not so hard. Debian even with sudo added may not allow a user to escalate privileges. It is all working well. But the User must be aware of privileges. a, you can call if this is still an issue. Ted P. On Fri, Jun 7, 2019, 12:46 PM ABQLUG <community@abqlug.com> wrote:

Great news a. When I upgraded in the same manner as you have, I had to copy my T-Bird and Firefox profiles into their respective locations in order to get my mail, etc. to show up. I'm really glad you have a functioning system now and that Jason burned the midnight oil! That's dedication so congrats! Brian On 6/7/19 3:12 PM, a wrote:

Hi a It was a good time getting all that working. I'm sorry we couldn't install the final pieces. I am beyond annoyed with second street brewery's internet access. They use a captive portal that constantly has issues and the bandwidth is terrible. We should go somewhere else for the after Glug. Anyways, just use the command line. Open a terminal and type "sudo synaptic" or a more direct approach is "apt-get install cinnamon thunderbird" viola!
What about Boxcar for meetings (mabye, too noisy and bit of trek for Ted) sports bar on Guadalupe I remembered going there one night when we were first having to exodus SF Bakery. On Fri, Jun 7, 2019 at 8:17 PM jason schaefer <js@jasonschaefer.com> wrote:
