NMGLUGers, We are scheduled to meet on Thursday, tomorrow, the 27th at 5:30 pm MDT. Will it be virtual or in-person? I have had a brief bout of some flu, so I will not be going out. I am fine, but may be contagious for a few more days. I can tune in virtually. Is there any interest in physically meeting? It is more interesting and productive. Let others know. Thank you, Ted P.
If we are going to alternate, then last time was online, and this week should be in person. I was planning to show up tonight at the Violet Crown. Or should we have the other phase?
I'm planning on informally showing up each meeting at Violet but I usually will get there at random times. If people write in and need specific help at a meeting I would make an effort to get there earlier.
NMGLUGers, Today is Wednesday, tomorrow is our scheduled day and time for meeting. Great to have a live meeting at Violet Crown tomorrow. Ted P On Wed, Oct 26, 2022 at 12:05 PM Mark Galassi <mark@galassi.org> wrote:

Hello NMGLUGERS! I am hoping you can help me with with a recommendation for a replacement computer for our Lenovo T510. We run pretty standard Ubuntu and do email, word processing, and internet. We like Lenovo but could consider other options (MSI?). Hoping to move to a 17 inch screen. We generally hang on to machines for a long time so will want something with a long shelf life. All thoughts welcome! Thank you! Mike P.S. do I just need to clean the T510 to fix "Fan Error" or do I need to replace the fan?
NMGLUGers & Mike, There are several Youtube videos on this problem. Maybe just a re-seating of the heat sink on the processor, maybe check that the fan is/is not running. Use 'sensors' to see what the operating temperature is. If you want a bigger machine, fine, I do not have a suggestion. If the machine is equipped like the one in the second email, it is good for a few more years of use with Ubuntu or other Debian based OS. At 12 years old it might be good to look under the keyboard for dust and physical status of fan - blowing out accumulated dust may solve the issue. Also check the bios settings to turn off the warning if you think the fan is intact and working. If it looks damaged or there is heat damage nearby you can choose whether to try a fan and heat sink replacement or save up for that bigger machine. Good luck, thank you, Ted P On Fri, Oct 28, 2022 at 10:23 PM palmolive <palmolive@cybermesa.com> wrote:
