Yeah, uses the LoRa wireless communication. Kinda like WiFi, but much further range, though much slower data rate. People have pushed the link range up to 200 miles in very special cases. MeshCore utilizes strong encryption for messages. Meshtastic is apparently very simple to set up, though not as resilient as MeshCore. Farmers have used LoRa for weather stations and irrigation systems for years. Very VERY low power, very very long range.
