tips on current home backup setups (NAS ?)
Does anyone have a nice FOSS-friendly approach to NAS (network-attached-storage) for a non-technical user? Non-technical, but willing to roll up their sleeves a bit. Simple DYI is fine, but off-the-shelf would be nicer (as long as it's based on free s/w). And any thoughts on which of the user-friendly graphical backup approaches work best with such a NAS type of thing?
Can't say much about software, but I've had decent luck with used enterprise SFF computers off Ebay + USB drives. I seem to recall that there is some Linux distro that is a Synology clone? On Mon, Apr 3, 2023, at 11:21 AM, Mark Galassi wrote:

I think samba (SMB) is natively supported in the Debian and or Ubuntu GUI for GNOME these days and you can just turn on a button and add users as needed, and edit properties for directories with a right click? Kindly, Jonathan Haack Math/CS Teacher, DSA/SFCC Director, Haack’s Networking
