A., When I play a disk I insert it and make sure it is mounted. Then open vlc and use the menu option "media" to bring up the vlc sub menu, then check that it shows sr0 or some reasonable address for the disk drive and at the bottom select "Play."  This lets the player deal with the files and the whole interlacing concept. It will depend on who made the disk and how good a copy it is. Good luck ,Ted P.

A., why not "play disk" from vlc menu? I'll try a screenshot later. Also, is the disk commercial or user made? Was it made free and cross platform or designed to only run with certain software? Just some thoughts. Ted P.

Have been using open disc ,open files and open DVD alternately the later

Any thoughts on an unraveling strategy? Thanks, Anthony
