I bought a couple of the ryzen 3 asus laptops from Walmart. 329.00. 4gig, 256 nvme,1080p 14” Runs Linux fine. I splurged got the 32gig memory later on. Too my surprise there was room for a 2.5 Sata in the body. Might work for some of what you need.
