Occasional changes that remove and introduce elements almost imperceptibly. Harmsworth has this way about making complex worlds of melody that feel like one singular note played indefinitely" -- guide me little tape High_Mayhem_Luke_Carr-11.Shayla_Blatchford <http://highmayhem.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/High_Mayhem_Luke_Carr-11.Shayla_Blatchford.jpg> _*iNK oN pAPER *_ is a drum, bass, and electronics duo from Milton Villarrubia III (drums and laptop) and Carlos Santistevan (bass and electronics) who share 15 years of working together as a rhythm section in various projects. The Duo takes bass, drums and electronics to a new place. Both members play hybridized versions of their instruments with Milton using Midi triggers on his drums to trigger and process samples using Ableton Live and Carlos using live looping and signal processing on his upright electric bass. The result is a duo that is drags rhythm through the mud in unimaginably glorious ways. Collectively the 2 have shared the stages with many greats including: Dennis Gonzalez, Myra Melford, Dub Trio, Claudia Quintet, Lightning Bolt, HEALTH, The Ahleuchatistas, Sunburned Hand of the Man, Rob Brown, Roscoe Mitchell, Tatsuya Nakatani, Anthony Davis, Gutbucket, Kidd Jordan, J.A. The core of the Rampant Egos (Third Ear) are Dwight Loop (synthesizers, Cracklebox), Arnold Bodmer (keyboards, Thermin) and Justin Parker (recorders/synthesizers/Theremin). They will be joined by Doug Wooldridge (guitar), Al Faaet (percussion), Jeff Sussmann (drums) and Lee Howard (bass). All have performed in various of Loop's ensembles for nearly 20 years in New Mexico and beyond including Circuits, Ultratribe, Mitochondria, ArtisIndustry Orchestra and others. Rampant Egos music is defined by its use of many different instruments (electronic and acoustic) with composed improvisation and experimentation. Songs evolve from very simple beginnings into epic space-jazz and electronic grooves to minimal Theremin and Cracklebox instrumentals. Rampant Ego Big Band Loop has performed and promoted events at the CCA since the early 1980s, with the most notable events being No Compromise Music Festival, the Concentration Music Festival and various solo performances, through New Music New Mexico, a non-profit that operated in the state from 1981-1996. Rampant Egos have released a dozen albums on the Third Ear label and are making the debut of this big band at the CCA.
