10 years after the band’s inception, Saturday Looks Good to Me (Polyvinyl, K Records) had tallied themselves a fully impressive resume: 6 full-length albums, a handful of EPs and 7”s, hundreds of shows all over the globe and a dedicated legion of supporters telling their own stories about what happened the particular night Fred Thomas and his cohorts passed through town. In 2009, however, it was understandably time for something new. Thomas had left his native Michigan and was now living in New York City. He no longer had luxury of larger dwellings or soundproofed practice spaces. Instead, he had to adjust to the acceptable noise levels of apartment life…and thus City Center came to be.

Shortly after City Center’s beginning stages, Fred recruited former SLGTM bandmate Ryan Howard to collaborate on subsequent recordings and help bring City Center to a live setting. The two wasted no time last year, having now already amassed 10 out-of-print releases on vinyl, cassette, and CDR. Late in the year they released their first proper full length on Type records and headed out on the road to enthusiastic audiences.

Now, Quite Scientific Records is proud to announce the release Spring St. Four brand new songs from City Center that feature lush soundscapes and subdued washes of rhythm. The short-player runs just over twenty minutes long and will be released both digitally and on stunning limited-run hand screened clear vinyl (viewable here: http://store.quitescientific.com/qsr015image.html). Only 500 copies of the vinyl will be sold, and it will be exclusively available at live shows, independent retailers, Insound, Other Music, and the Quite Scientific Records webstore.

Just in time for the release, City Center will also be hitting the road on a full spring tour kicking off in Pennsylvania on March 19th, touching two oceans, funneling itself through the desert and finally ending in Detroit on April 30th. Where possible the band will be playing all-ages shows at art-spaces and DIY venues in the hopes of recreating the fan-experience so many were able to be a part of with Saturday Looks Good to Me. If you have the opportunity, we strongly encourage you to experience the band in-person.
