Amy Owen is a graduate and instructor for the Certified beekeeper program through New Mexico Beekeepers
Association, tends the beehives at the Open Space Visitor Center, is the owner of Desert Hives and teaches widely
throughout the state, advocating on behalf of honeybees. She lives with her family and a menagerie of critters, including honeybees, in the East Mountains. Amy has a master’s degree in social work and has been able to use her skill sets in new and unique ways to educate others about bees and beekeeping.
